Bavarian Farmers' Association demands relief from rising costs

The Bavarian Farmers' Association (BBV) is calling for urgent economic relief for the agricultural sector due to rising costs for energy and fertilizer, combined with low producer prices. BBV President Günther Felßner noted that geopolitical tensions, particularly in the Middle East, are exacerbating the financial pressure on farms.

The association is demanding several specific measures, including the suspension of CO2 levies, securing the fertilizer supply, and tax exemptions for domestic biofuels. Felßner emphasized that tax-free, regionally produced biofuels and non-fossil alternatives like HVO could be 15 to 20 cents cheaper than conventional diesel, providing a more sustainable and economically viable option for the industry.
