Bavaria residential building permits rise 12.3%

In the first half of 2026, Bavaria experienced a 12.3 percent increase in residential building permits compared to the same period the previous year. According to data from the Bavarian State Office for Statistics, a total of 29,155 permits or permit exemption procedures were completed between January and June.

Bavarian Construction Minister Christian Bernreiter noted that this growth represents a continuation of a positive trend started last year. The increase was seen across various housing types, including significant growth in both multi-family homes and single- or two-family houses.

The state government is supporting this momentum by investing a total of 3.6 billion euros in housing promotion throughout 2026 and 2027. Bernreiter emphasized the need for private developers to increase activity, calling on the federal government to provide better tax incentives, simplified programs, and practical standards to help meet housing demands.
