Bavarian Housing Ministry Reports 12.3% Rise in Building Permits
In the first half of the year, 29,155 apartments in Bavaria received building permits or completed exemption procedures, marking a 12.3% increase over the same period last year. The figures were released by the Bavarian State Ministry for Housing, Construction and Transport in Munich and are based on data from the Bavarian Statistical Office.
Minister Christian Bernreiter (CSU) said the upward trend reflects recent modernization laws and new building‑type regulations that reduce bureaucratic hurdles. The state plans to invest €3.6 billion in housing promotion this year and next, including €1 billion from a special fund. Bernreiter warned that the government alone cannot meet housing demand and called on the private sector to accelerate construction. He also urged the federal government to provide better depreciation options, tax relief, simpler KfW programmes and practical standards.
