Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann on Civil Defence and AfD Threat

At a meeting of Bavaria's interior ministry on 12 June 2026 in Ingolstadt, interior minister Joachim Herrmann and local officials discussed strengthening population protection. The agenda emphasized the role of district authorities in civil defence, civil‑military coordination, and the launch of a new State Office for Population Protection to improve crisis response.

He called for a vigorous CDU/CSU campaign to prevent the party from gaining power, describing such an outcome as a dangerous signal for Germany.
