Bavarian municipalities implement speed limit measures and monitoring
Local authorities in the Bavarian region are addressing increasing public demand for reduced speed limits to improve safety. In Amerang, the municipal council has majority-approved a citizen petition to introduce a 30 km/h speed limit along a 790-meter section of the RO36 and State Road 2360. The initiative, supported by over 160 signatures, aims to protect vulnerable groups near a senior residence, kindergarten, and primary school in an area seeing over 2,200 vehicles daily. The administration has been tasked with submitting a formal request to the Rosenheim district office for review.
In the neighboring community of Percha, enforcement measures are already being implemented. A new TraffiStar speed monitoring system, described as a “laser carpet,” has been installed on Berger Straße. This device uses light pulses to monitor speeds from a distance of approximately 70 meters and can oversee both lanes simultaneously. The installation follows local discussions regarding the need for stricter speed controls in residential and transit areas.
