Bavarian officials warn municipal finances are falling short

SPD district chairman Harald Dösel criticised the Bavarian state government for inadequate school financing, noting that the federal special‑fund allocated €16.5 million to the Weißenburg‑Gunzenhausen district, of which the village of Haundorf received €432,678. Dösel warned that the amount would not cover necessary infrastructure projects such as school renovations and daycare facilities, urging stronger state support.

At a CSU district meeting, Bundestag member Florian Oßner and district‑council president Dr. Olaf Heinrich highlighted the unsustainable rise in social‑state costs, which have increased 9‑12 % annually. Heinrich proposed reforms such as pooling school‑aide resources, flexible use of public buildings, and a broader review of entitlement programmes to reduce spending while preserving service quality. Both gatherings underscore growing financial pressure on Bavarian municipalities.
