Bavarian public shows high trust in Bayerischer Rundfunk, 2026 study finds

A new representative image study commissioned by the Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) shows that the broadcaster enjoys strong approval among Bavarians. Eighty‑two percent of respondents said the BR provides trustworthy content, and 77 % of those under 50 expressed a similarly high level of trust.

The study also highlights the BR’s perceived importance for Bavarian society, with two‑thirds of participants rating the broadcaster as valuable and worth the licence fee. Respondents most associate the BR with regional focus, up‑to‑date reporting, credibility and reliability. Intendant Dr Katja Wildermuth said that the high trust level “is the most important currency for independent journalism” and commits the organization to continue delivering reliable information and reflecting Bavaria’s diversity.
