Bavarian startups drive European aerospace innovation
Bavaria has emerged as a leading aerospace hub in Europe, with the sector generating approximately 12 billion euros in revenue and employing around 38,000 people. Two Munich-based startups are driving European efforts to build independent space capabilities through distinct technological approaches.
Reflex Aerospace focuses on rapid satellite production by utilizing software-defined platforms. While traditional manufacturers may take four to five years to develop a satellite, Reflex Aerospace aims to complete the first satellite of a series in roughly twelve months. Their approach involves providing a satellite platform that manages orientation, cooling, power, and data transmission, allowing customers to integrate their own payloads.
The Exploration Company is pursuing a different strategy by developing a reusable capsule intended to secure Europe's independence in space transport.
