Bavarian towns prepare for major anniversary celebrations

Gunzenhausen is preparing to celebrate its 625th Kirchweih anniversary. The festivities are scheduled to run from September 12 to September 20, 2026. To kick off the celebrations, the Altmühlsee Association will host a special boat trip on the Altmühlsee on September 9, 2026, featuring local tradition bearers and live music by the band ‘Boarisch auf’gspuilt’.

In Bayrischzell, the community is marking its 950th anniversary. On September 12, 2026, Martina Röpfl will host a folk music evening at the Klosterhofs zur Post. The event, titled ‘950 Jahre Bayrischzell – Scheyern’, will explore the historical connection between Bayrischzell and the Scheyern monastery, dating back to the founding of Margarethenzell in 1076. The program will include Bavarian poetry and musical performances by the Röpfl Geigenmusi ensemble.
