Baxter State Park ranked among America’s best for fall foliage

Baxter State Park in Maine has been recognized as one of the top ten state parks in the United States for experiencing fall foliage. The ranking, released by Outdoors.com, highlights the park as a premier destination for autumn adventures.

Spanning over 200,000 acres in Piscataquis County, the park features approximately 300 miles of trails and diverse tree species including maple, oak, and birch. Peak foliage typically occurs from early to mid-October. The park is home to several of Maine’s highest peaks, such as Mount Katahdin—the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail—as well as Baxter, Hamlin, and the North and South Brother peaks.
