Bay leaves may offer health benefits beyond culinary use
Bay leaves, commonly used as a seasoning for soups and stews, may offer additional health benefits beyond culinary use. While official scientific confirmation is still pending, bay leaf infusions have been used traditionally to address digestive issues.
A study involving 40 participants with type 2 diabetes observed a decrease in glucose levels among those who consumed powdered bay leaves in capsule form over a 30-day period. To prepare a simple infusion, 2-3 dried bay leaves can be steeped in 250 ml of boiling water for approximately 15 minutes. It is recommended to start with small amounts to allow the body to adjust.
