Bayaguana driver detained after blocking school bus with 18 students
A driver was detained in Bayaguana, Monte Plata, after allegedly blocking a school bus for approximately 25 minutes near the Pilanconcito park. The bus, operated by the School Transport (TRAE) service, was carrying 18 students at the time of the incident.
The confrontation occurred during a turning maneuver when the driver's vehicle reportedly became positioned in a way that prevented the bus from proceeding, despite the bus already being established in the roadway. The school bus driver stated that they signaled and requested space to continue, but the other driver refused to yield.
During the delay, students remained inside the vehicle. Reports indicate that the situation caused emotional distress among some of the children, including one child who began to cry and another approximately 7 or 8 years old who had a strong emotional reaction. Police and TRAE colleagues eventually intervened to clear the path and facilitate the bus's departure. The involved driver was taken into custody by authorities.
