Bayelsa Governor pledges support for Nigerian military security
Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to maintain peace and protect critical national assets. During a meeting with senior military officers, including Major General Everest Okoro of the Nigerian Army 6 Division, the governor praised the existing synergy between the state government and security forces.
Governor Diri requested that military authorities reconsider Bayelsa’s alignment from the 6th Division in Port Harcourt to the 83 Division in Benin, Edo State, arguing that proximity to Port Harcourt would improve coordination and logistics. He also welcomed the proposed establishment of new army formations and an artillery regiment in the Southern Ijaw, Ekeremor, and Nembe local government areas.
