Bayelsa Medical University introduces AI robotic tutors

Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has unveiled Artificial Intelligence-powered robotic tutors and various digital learning innovations at Bayelsa Medical University in Yenagoa. The introduction of these technologies aims to modernize medical education and bolster research and technological development.

The unveiling coincided with the presentation of the university’s 2025–2029 Strategic Plan. Governor Diri emphasized that while emerging technologies are vital, they should complement rather than replace traditional teaching methods and the essential mentorship provided by human lecturers.

Diri challenged the university management to ensure the strategic plan leads to tangible improvements in academic standards, infrastructure, and graduate quality. He also reaffirmed support for the university’s ASPIRE Agenda, which focuses on academic excellence, innovation, and research.
