Bayelsa Rescue Mission alleges political marginalization by Governor Diri
The Bayelsa Rescue Mission (BRM) has called on Governor Douye Diri to address the alleged political marginalization of the Bayelsa East Senatorial District and significant sections of the Yenagoa Local Government Area.
The group claims that key political appointments and party positions are being concentrated within specific senatorial districts and local government areas, excluding representatives from Brass, Nembe, Ogbia, and various Yenagoa communities from strategic decision-making. According to the BRM, the current political consultation structure lacks representation from these regions, as high-level roles are reportedly held by individuals from Kolokuma/Opokuma, Sagbama, Southern Ijaw, and Ekeremor.
In a statement, the BRM emphasized that their concerns are not a request for political patronage but a demand for fairness, equity, and inclusion. They argued that government should serve all citizens rather than being the preserve of specific geographical blocs or political tendencies.
