Infrastructure updates: Bayelsa and Lagos bridge projects

In Bayelsa State, the government and contractor Setraco Nigeria Limited have denied social media reports alleging a structural collapse of a bridge column on the Nembe–Brass Road. Officials stated that the first phase of the 21-kilometre project is approximately 85 per cent complete, with construction proceeding according to engineering designs. The road is expected to be ready for commissioning in the first quarter of 2027.

In Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu provided updates on the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge and the Opebi-Odoiya Alaro Bridge. The Opebi-Odoiya Alaro Bridge, which missed its September opening target, is now expected to open to traffic by December or before the Christmas period. The delay is attributed to the installation of a 25-metre steel monument designed by Julius Berger to reflect the local heritage of the area's cane market. The governor noted that the monument installation is approximately 80 per cent complete.
