Bayer 04 Leverkusen implements Germany's first Wi-Fi 7 stadium network
Bayer 04 Leverkusen has partnered with Extreme Networks to install Germany's first Wi-Fi 7 network in a football stadium at the BayArena. The upgrade aims to provide seamless connectivity for up to 30,000 fans, even during peak usage when mobile networks are heavily congested.
The installation includes more than 400 Wi-Fi 7 access points covering stadium seating, training facilities, concourses, pitchside areas, lounges, and VIP hospitality zones. The technology is designed to support high data throughput and low latency, enabling fans to access live statistics, game replays, and personalized offers on their mobile devices.
Beyond enhancing the fan experience, the network supports stadium operations such as digital signage and audio-visual systems. The Wi-Fi coverage also extends approximately 30 meters beyond the stadium entrances to assist fans with digital ticketing and entry.
