Bayer Italy CEO Arianna Gregis details AI‑driven innovation and export push

Bayer Italia’s chief executive, Arianna Gregis, said the company’s future rests on three pillars – innovation, high‑quality production and strategic alliances. She highlighted Italy as a strategic location for advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing and described the Garbagnate Milanese plant, which produces about 8 billion tablets a year, with roughly 70 % destined for export.

Gregis explained that Bayer is leveraging artificial intelligence as an accelerator for drug research, aiming to cut the time to discover new molecules by 40 % by 2030, and has partnered with technology firms such as Google Cloud and Recursion. The firm is also concentrating on cell‑and‑gene therapies for chronic and rare diseases while pursuing carbon‑neutral operations and greater energy sustainability.
