Bayer launches awareness campaign for cardiac amyloidosis
Bayer has launched the ‘A tuTTo cuoRe’ awareness campaign to highlight transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (ATTR-CM), a rare and progressive disease. The initiative coincides with World Cardiac Amyloidosis Day on October 26.
ATTR-CM is caused by the accumulation of abnormal proteins that form filaments in heart tissue, reducing the heart's ability to pump blood effectively. If left undiagnosed, the condition can severely compromise the function of the heart and other vital organs. Symptoms often include persistent fatigue, shortness of breath after modest exertion, and leg swelling, which are frequently mistaken for general aging or other cardiovascular issues.
The campaign aims to spread knowledge about the disease, help individuals recognize warning signs, and encourage timely consultation with medical professionals.
