Bayer Leverkusen defeated RB Leipzig 2-0 at the BayArena during the fourth matchday of the Bundesliga. The victory moves Leverkusen up to fifth place in the standings, while Leipzig remains in ninth.

Patrik Schick opened the scoring in the 44th minute, converting a cross from Miguel Gutiérrez. In the 57th minute, Gutiérrez doubled the lead with a low finish following a deflected clearance. A potential goal for Leipzig by Christopher Nkunku in the 34th minute was disallowed by VAR for offside.

Before the match, both clubs observed a minute of silence to honor the late former Leverkusen player and coach, Peter Hermann.
