Bayer Leverkusen defeats Wehen Wiesbaden 4-0 in DFB-Pokal
Bayer Leverkusen secured a 4-0 victory against third-division side Wehen Wiesbaden to advance to the second round of the DFB-Pokal. The match marked the competitive debut of new head coach Carles Martínez.
Despite early difficulties against a resilient Wiesbaden defense in rainy conditions, Leverkusen found their rhythm. Patrik Schick opened the scoring in the 43rd minute. The momentum shifted quickly after halftime, with Lucas Vázquez scoring in the 47th minute, followed by goals from Nathan Tella in the 69th minute and Christian Kofane in the 79th minute.
Martínez also introduced notable changes to the squad leadership, appointing Edmond Tapsoba as the new captain. The win provides a positive start for the Bundesliga side ahead of their upcoming league match against SV Elversberg.
