Bayer Leverkusen extends contracts of executives Fernando Carro and Simon Rolfes
Bayer Leverkusen announced early extensions of the contracts of its two top executives. Chairman Fernando Carro will remain in his role until June 2029, while sport director Simon Rolfes will stay on until June 2031. Carro has led the club’s executive board since July 2018 and Rolfes has been the sport director since 2022.
The club highlighted its recent successes, noting that under coach Xabi Alonso it achieved the 2024 Bundesliga and DFB‑Pokal double, finished second in 2025 and sixth in 2026. Werner Wenning, chair of the shareholders’ committee, praised the duo for developing the club and delivering its greatest sporting achievements. Both Carro and Rolfes said the aim is to keep improving and to compete for national and European titles, with Carles Martinez set to take over as head coach for the new season.
