Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Malik Tillman’s future in doubt after interview

US international midfielder Malik Tillman said he received little support from Bayer Leverkusen during the World Cup and criticised the club’s fans and former coach Kasper Hjulmand in a candid interview with Kölner Stadt‑Anzeiger. He expressed disappointment over the lack of communication from the club’s leadership and questioned whether he could expect more personal contact.

Leverkusen’s sporting managing director Simon Rolfes replied, stating that Tillman should have raised his concerns directly with him or club CEO Fernando Carro. Rolfes said the player had not approached them and emphasized the need for open dialogue.
