Victor Boniface braces in Bayer Leverkusen's 7-0 pre‑season win
Nigerian striker Victor Boniface returned to Bayer Leverkusen in July and scored a brace in the club's 7‑0 victory over fifth‑tier German side Sportfreunde Baumberg. The friendly, played under new coach Carles Martínez, lasted 70 minutes and saw other scorers Afonso Moreira (two), Christian Kofane, Nathan Tella, and Robert Andrich. Boniface, who had spent the previous season on loan at Werder Bremen and was hampered by injuries, entered at halftime and netted the fourth and fifth goals, showcasing his pace and finishing instinct.
The win marked Leverkusen's first pre‑season outing and the striker celebrated his performance on social media, posting a selfie with two raised fingers. He said he aims to maintain his form as he competes for a starting spot ahead of the upcoming schedule, which includes friendlies against Kickers Offenbach, Sevilla, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest.
