Bayer reports Nubeqa reduces prostate cancer metastasis risk
Bayer has announced that its drug Nubeqa (darolutamide) significantly reduces the risk of metastasis or death in prostate cancer patients with a high risk of recurrence. According to an interim analysis of the Phase III DASL-HiCaP study, which had a median follow-up period of 3.8 years, the drug showed a 58 percent reduction in the combined primary endpoint compared to a placebo. In the study, both the Nubeqa and placebo groups received concurrent androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) and radiation therapy.
Following the announcement, Bayer's share price rose by approximately 3 percent. Market analysts from JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs noted that the data could serve as a significant growth driver, with some predicting potential additional revenues of up to one billion euros. Analysts suggest Nubeqa could reach annual sales exceeding 6 billion euros by 2030.
Additionally, the company's stock performance was supported by the approval of its anticoagulant, Asundexian, in the Chinese market for the prevention of secondary strokes.
