Bayer to close Gebze plant protection factory in Turkey

Bayer has announced the decision to close its plant protection products facility in Gebze, Turkey, by the end of 2027. The facility has been conducting production and export activities for approximately 60 years.

The closure is part of a broader strategy to optimize Bayer’s plant protection production network across the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. The company aims to increase operational efficiency and competitiveness by shifting the formulation and filling of products currently made in Gebze to other facilities within the EMEA region.

The decision directly affects 55 employees. Bayer stated it will manage the transition through a transparent process in accordance with legal regulations, emphasizing a human-centric approach to support the staff.

Despite the factory closure, Bayer intends to maintain its presence in the Turkish market. The company, which has operated in Turkey for over 70 years, confirmed that its activities in pharmaceuticals, agricultural products, and consumer health will continue, ensuring an uninterrupted supply of products to local farmers and export markets.
