Bayer to launch independent operating company for Bergkamen site in 2027

Bayer announced it will establish a wholly‑owned operating company for its Bergkamen location, with operations slated to begin in 2027. The new entity will focus on infrastructure and site‑service functions, enabling Bayer to develop the campus into a dedicated pharma‑and‑chemical park. Dr. Holger Weintritt, head of Product Supply at Bayer Pharmaceuticals, said the restructuring gives the new company “the ability to concentrate on its core business and act entrepreneurially.”

Denis Panknin, currently the site manager, will lead the new company. He said, “I already look forward to the new task.” The Bergkamen site employs roughly 1,650 people and currently hosts Bayer, Lanxess and Huntsman, with additional land available for future tenants.

The move is part of Bayer’s longer‑term strategy to strengthen the site’s sustainability and attractiveness for further chemical and pharmaceutical enterprises.
