Bayern midfielder Lena Oberdorf nears return after second ACL tear

Germany women's national team midfielder Lena Oberdorf, 24, is progressing toward a comeback after suffering a second anterior cruciate ligament rupture in October 2025. She has rejoined full team training with FC Bayern Munich but says she is still avoiding full‑speed challenges, noting, “I haven’t taken a tackle yet because everything is still being played with a bit of caution.”

Oberdorf explained that her rehabilitation decisions are being made jointly with medical staff, and she aims to stay injury‑free and enjoy the game. Bayern will use the upcoming match at their new Champions‑League stadium in Unterhaching as a rehearsal for the Supercup against VfL Wolfsburg, after which her readiness for competitive matches will be assessed.

She reflected on the long lay‑off, saying it has made her “much more mature” and less naïve about on‑field decisions, and she wants to “stay injury‑free and have fun” as her season goal.
