Bayern München leads CIES Football Observatory game control rankings

Bayern München leads the game control rankings according to the CIES Football Observatory, a research group specializing in football statistical analysis. The rankings, based on domestic league matches played up to September 24, include teams from 68 different leagues.

Bayern München holds the top position with an index of 97.1, followed by FC Barcelona (93.7) and SC Braga (92.5). Other top-five teams include FK Bodø/Glimt (91.7) and Paris Saint-Germain (91.0). In the Premier League, Manchester City maintains the highest index, ahead of Tottenham and Arsenal.

The CIES methodology utilizes 27 indicators categorized into three components: pressure exerted on opponents, control during the construction phase, and collective presence in the offensive zone. In the Romanian Superliga, Universitatea Craiova is the highest-ranked team with an index of 69.9, placing it 67th globally. Dinamo București follows closely with an index of 68.5.
