Bayern Munich appoints Tyrese Rice as Head of Player Development

Bayern Munich has appointed former EuroLeague star Tyrese Rice as the new Head of Player Development. Rice will join the coaching staff under head coach Anton Gavel at BMW Park, effective September 1.

The 39-year-old American returns to Munich, where he previously played during the 2012-13 season. Rice’s distinguished career includes winning the EuroLeague and Final Four MVP with Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2014, as well as a EuroCup title with Khimki in 2015. Most recently, he worked as a skills trainer in Houston, assisting NBA players and rising prospects.

In addition to Rice's appointment, Bayern has also added Andre van Staay to the staff as a new rehabilitation coach and included an additional physiotherapist to complete the basketball team's technical staff.
