Bayern Munich plans goalkeeper succession for Manuel Neuer
Bayern Munich is actively planning for the eventual departure of veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. While the 40-year-old recently extended his contract, the club is preparing for a transition period to identify a long-term successor.
Internal plans heavily favor Jonas Urbig, who is viewed as a strong candidate to eventually take over as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. To support this transition, Bayern is reportedly looking for an experienced backup to mentor the young keeper. Potential targets for this role include Fulham’s Bernd Leno and FC Augsburg’s Finn Dahmen.
Although there has been significant transfer speculation linking the club to Everton’s Jordan Pickford and Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen, reports indicate that Bayern is not currently pursuing Pickford, as they believe the answer to their goalkeeping needs may lie within their own academy and internal development.
