Bayeux Tapestry themes inspire local art and playing cards

In Great Hockham, Norfolk, residents have celebrated the creation of a local “Bayeux Tapestry.” The five-meter-long, 12-panel artwork was computer-generated by street artist Emily Brownlow to depict the village's history from 1066 to the present day. The piece includes historical milestones such as the sighting of the first Zeppelin and the return of soldiers from the First World War.

Separately, the Heritage Playing Card Company in Derbyshire has released a souvenir pack of playing cards featuring 58 different scenes from the original Bayeux Tapestry. This release coincides with an exhibition of the tapestry at the British Museum in London. The handmade cards include text detailing key historical figures and the events leading up to the Battle of Hastings and the Norman Conquest.
