Bayeux Tapestry to be loaned to the British Museum

The Bayeux Tapestry, a nearly 1,000-year-old medieval masterpiece depicting the conquest of England by William the Conqueror, is set for an exceptional loan to the United Kingdom. The textile work, measuring approximately 70 meters in length, will be exhibited at the British Museum from September 10 until July 11, 2027.

This rare cultural exchange follows intensive negotiations and technical preparations. Due to the artifact's extreme vulnerability to vibrations and physical shock, months of calculations and the development of a specialized shock-absorbing crate were required for its transport.

The loan is considered a significant diplomatic and cultural gesture between France and the United Kingdom, marking a rare instance where the treasure has traveled so far from its home in Normandy.
