Baykar and Leonardo Showcase MUM‑T Advances at Farnborough Airshow

Turkish defence firm Baykar and Italy's Leonardo are presenting the latest stage of their human‑unmanned teaming (MUM‑T) programme at the Farnborough Airshow in the United Kingdom. During a briefing they will detail live‑flight tests that combined Leonardo’s M‑346 jet trainer with Baykar’s unmanned combat aircraft Bayraktar KIZILELMA under the K‑SWARM project, confirming coordinated autonomous operations. The companies will also exhibit the short‑runway Bayraktar TB3 UAV, which is intended for entry into the European market through their joint venture LBA Systems. The partnership, formalised by a memorandum in Rome in March 2025 and a joint‑venture agreement at the Paris Airshow in June 2025, is positioned as a strategic signal to NATO allies and the global defence industry about advancing mixed‑crew air combat capabilities.

The Farnborough announcement is expected to influence future procurement decisions and underline the growing role of autonomous systems in modern air warfare.
