Baylor Bears defeat Colorado Buffaloes 23-13 in Big 12 opener
The Baylor Bears defeated the Colorado Buffaloes 23-13 in their Big 12 Conference opener at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas. Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway, returning from a two-game absence due to an ankle injury, threw two touchdown passes, including a decisive 33-yard score to Jadon Porter in the fourth quarter.
Baylor's victory was supported by a strong defensive performance and special teams. Kicker Rhett Armstrong contributed three field goals, including a 54-yarder that tied a stadium record. The Bears' defense held Colorado to 363 total yards and forced several punts.
Colorado, led by coach Deion Sanders, struggled with offensive consistency. After a slow start by quarterback Julian Lewis, Sanders turned to backup Isaac Wilson in the second half. Wilson connected with Joseph Williams for a 17-yard touchdown to tie the game at 13-13, but Baylor responded with a scoring drive to reclaim the lead. Colorado wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. left the game in the second quarter following a significant collision with Baylor linebacker Travion Barnes.
