Baylor volleyball sweeps San Diego in season opener

No. 21 Baylor volleyball opened its season with a 3-0 sweep against San Diego at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu. The Bears won three closely contested sets with scores of 26-24, 34-32, and 25-23.

Ksenia Rakhmanchik led the team with 18 kills, marking her tenth consecutive match with double-digit kills. Freshman Nadiya Johnson recorded 11 kills in her debut, the highest for a Baylor freshman in an opener since 2023. Isabela Haggard contributed 27 assists and 20 digs, surpassing 1,000 career assists during the first set.

Heading into the season, head coach Ryan McGuyre and the team have adopted a ‘Love tough’ mentality focused on accountability. The roster features a mix of returning players, including Morgan Madison and Bailey Warren, alongside a highly-ranked freshman class and sophomore setter Isabela Haggard.
