Bayonne parents charged in infant's death

A couple has been charged with aggravated manslaughter and child endangerment following the death of their 2-month-old son in Bayonne, New Jersey.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office announced that Jason Megaro, 27, and Jenae Vasquez, 20, were arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Homicide Unit after a grand jury indictment. The investigation stems from an incident on March 25, 2026, when the infant was brought to Bayonne Medical Center with head injuries. The child was subsequently transferred to University Hospital in Newark, where he died the following day.

A medical examiner determined the cause of death was complications from blunt force injuries to the head. Megaro and Vasquez were apprehended in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, and Manhattan, New York, respectively. Both remain in custody pending extradition to New Jersey.
