Bayou City Collegiate Classic faces weather delays in Houston
The Bayou City Collegiate Classic at Westwood Golf Course in Houston faced significant disruptions due to inclement weather. A two-hour and 22-minute rain delay prevented the completion of the second round, which was ultimately suspended due to darkness.
Middle Tennessee State University sits in fourth place following the first day of play. Senior Connor Henry led the Blue Raiders with an impressive five-under 67 in the first round and was sitting six-under through seven holes in the second round before play was halted. Freshman Stiles Hunter and Clay Pendergrass also contributed to the team's standing.
Lamar University holds seventh place with a team score of 480. Rory Bennett and Nathan Woodham led the Cardinals with individual two-under 70 rounds. Rice University led the tournament standings after the opening round with a score of 279.
On the individual leaderboard, Texas' Sterling Hurd held a two-stroke advantage after shooting a seven-under 65.
