Bayraklı hosts 5th Homer Literature and Art Festival

The 5th Bayraklı Homer Literature and Art Festival has commenced in the Bayraklı district, aiming to connect the region's millennia-old history with various branches of art and literature. The opening ceremony took place at the 100. Yıl Mathematics and Intelligence Games Park.

During the opening, experts discussed the historical connection between the poet Homer and the Bayraklı region. Professor Dr. Cumhur Tanrıverdi noted findings suggesting Homer may have lived in the area, while Professor Dr. Aylin Ümit Erdem invited attendees to visit the Old Smyrna excavation site to trace these historical footprints.

Bayraklı Mayor İrfan Önal emphasized the importance of promoting the district's unique heritage, specifically the connection between the Ancient City of Smyrna and Homer. The festival includes various activities such as talks, exhibitions, children's events, and concerts.
