Bayreuth Festival honors long-serving staff and artists
The city of Bayreuth and the Bayreuth Festival honored 34 long-standing contributors during a ceremony at Haus Wahnfried. Festival director Katharina Wagner and Mayor Andreas Zippel recognized individuals across various departments, including soloists, orchestra members, technical staff, lighting, and costume designers.
Among the honorees, musicians Matthias Baier, Thomas Lischke, and Peter Riehm, along with makeup artist André Beck, received the Richard Wagner Medal for 30 years of service. Other awardees included mezzo-soprano Nadine Weissmann, baritone Michael Volle, and tenor Andreas Schager, who were recognized for ten years of participation. Awards presented to the contributors included the Richard Wagner Medal, glass cubes from the Festival House, and 'Schimmala' ceramic jugs.
