Bayreuth Festival Orchestra concert interrupted by power outage in Sevilla
A concert by the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Sevilla was interrupted due to a power outage. The performance, conducted by Heras Casado, had begun normally with vocal performances by baritone Nicholas Brownlee and Klaus Florian Vogt. However, during the performance of “Siegfried”, the lights in the hall and the surrounding Paseo de Cristóbal Colón went dark, forcing the orchestra to stop.
Teatro de la Maestranza director Javier Menéndez informed the audience that the blackout affected the entire area. The orchestra had to exit the stage using flashlights provided by theater staff. The tour, which marks the 150th anniversary of the premiere of “The Ring of the Nibelung”, includes stops in Barcelona, Santander, Sevilla, Madrid, and Valencia.
