The Bayreuth Festival staged Wagner's opera *Siegfried* using artificial‑intelligence to create visual backdrops. The AI system, overseen by curator Marcus Lobbes, was fed a database spanning more than a century of Bayreuth productions and generated images that echoed historic stage designs, notably Patrice Chéreaus 1976 production.

Conductor Christian Thielemann led the performance, with Michael Volle as the Wanderer, Gerhard Siegel as Mime, and Klaus Florian Vogt as Siegfried. The AI‑driven imagery was interwoven with the live drama, offering a modern reinterpretation of the classic work while drawing on the festival’s extensive visual heritage.
