Bayreuth introduces online residence registration

The city of Bayreuth has introduced a new online procedure that allows residents to register a change of address from home. Previously, citizens were required to visit the town hall in person to register a new residence or a move within the city.

The digital service is available 24/7 and is free of charge. To use the system, residents need an ID card or eID card with an activated online function, an NFC-capable smartphone with the federal AusweisApp, or a card reader, along with a user account via BundID. The process allows for the automatic retrieval of existing registration data and supports joint registration for spouses and minor children.
