Bayreuth police search forest following reports of screams

Police in Bayreuth launched a search operation in a forested area following reports of loud screams and cries for help on Thursday evening. The reports centered around the Hohen Straße, Teufelsgraben, and Elfenweg areas in the western part of the city.

A witness reported hearing the irregular screams for approximately 20 minutes. During the search, which involved multiple patrol units and a police helicopter, officers heard further screams but received no response to their calls.

Upon investigation, authorities found no persons in distress. The source of the noise was identified as a fox, as police noted that fox vocalizations can closely resemble human screams or cries for help. No immediate danger was detected.
