Regensburg explosion leaves multiple injured and missing
A powerful explosion occurred in a multi-family residential building on Von-Reiner-Straße in Regensburg, Germany, early Wednesday morning around 4:00 AM. The blast caused significant structural damage, leaving the building and two adjacent houses at risk of collapse.
At least four to five people were injured and transported to hospitals, with some sustaining serious injuries. Additionally, several residents remain missing, though authorities noted uncertainty regarding whether they were inside the building at the time of the blast. A police officer was also treated for smoke inhalation.
Emergency services, including approximately 100 firefighters, responded to the scene to combat massive flames that engulfed the building. Due to the instability of the structure, crews have been unable to enter certain areas, and the Technical Relief Agency (THW) has been deployed to stabilize the site. Residents from the affected buildings have been evacuated and provided with temporary accommodation.
