Bayreuth welcomes 50 newly naturalized German citizens from 40 nations

On 30 July 2026 the city of Bayreuth held a ceremony in the town hall to welcome more than 50 people who were granted German citizenship that year. Mayor Dr Andreas Zippel addressed the new citizens, noting that they have lived and worked in Germany for many years, built families and now formally said “yes” to the country. The city reported roughly 500 naturalisations in the previous year, covering individuals from over 40 countries, including France, Poland, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Sierra Leone, Mexico, Taiwan, Cuba, Argentina and Cambodia.

The ceremony highlighted Bayreuth’s role as a university town and cultural hub, emphasizing the importance of integration for both the newcomers and the local community.
