Bayside and Kingston Councils demand road funding

Bayside and Kingston Councils have formed a coalition to demand increased state government funding for road maintenance and infrastructure. The councils are highlighting deteriorating road surfaces and dangerous potholes, specifically citing the Nepean Highway as a major area of concern.

Kingston Mayor Georgina Oxley stated that residents should not have to navigate deteriorating state roads, while Bayside Mayor Debbie Taylor-Haynes emphasized that poor road surfaces pose genuine safety risks and vehicle damage. The push for funding is part of Kingston Council’s ‘Put Kingston First’ campaign ahead of the November election, which also seeks upgrades for early childhood centers, community hubs, and sporting facilities.
