BayWa and Wienerberger face financial restructuring and market headwinds

BayWa AG is undergoing a significant financial restructuring. The company has reached an agreement with 267 of its 268 financing partners and its major shareholders regarding a new restructuring plan. This plan involves a substantial write-down of debt, where hybrid bondholders are expected to waive nearly the entire nominal volume and all accrued interest without compensation.

In tandem with these measures, BayWa's subsidiary sold the 22 megawatt-peak Gresselgrund solar park to iAccess Energy. Additionally, BayWa and AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG have modernized the 'ab-auction' agricultural technology auction platform.

Separately, the building materials group Wienerberger is facing economic headwinds. The company has lowered its 2026 operating EBITDA guidance to between 640 and 650 million euros, citing weak demand in residential construction and rising costs for energy, raw materials, and logistics. Following this announcement, several analysts, including those from BNP Paribas and Berenberg, have adjusted their price targets for the company's stock.
