Baze University develops aviation training school in Abuja

Baze University is nearing the completion of a major aviation training complex at its Bwari campus in Abuja, Nigeria. The project, initiated by Founder and Chancellor Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, aims to address the shortage of specialized aviation education and human capital development across Africa.

Spanning approximately 88 hectares, the facility is designed to integrate academic learning with practical flight operations. The infrastructure will include a dedicated runway for flight training, an aircraft hangar, a terminal building, flight operations and planning facilities, aviation laboratories, and simulation centers. The university is preparing to commence flight training using two aircraft.

To ensure compliance with Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations, the development is being structured to meet specific standards regarding safety, equipment, and operational procedures. In February 2026, a delegation led by Senator Baba-Ahmed met with the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, to seek federal support in facilitating the necessary regulatory and administrative processes for the school.
