Baze University Overhauls PhD Programme with New Provisional Year

Baze University announced a comprehensive reform of its Doctor of Philosophy programme aimed at strengthening research excellence and aligning with international best practices.

The reform reclassifies the first year as a Provisional PhD Studentship Year, during which students complete intensive coursework and must defend their research proposals before an academic panel to be upgraded to PhD candidates for the remaining semesters.

The university also approved the recruitment of distinguished professors from Nigerian and international institutions to serve as co‑supervisors, expanding scholarly networks and raising supervision standards.

The final thesis must be 80,000‑100,000 words and publishable, demonstrating an original contribution to knowledge.
