Bazgiret Waterfall in Artvin sees surge of visitors after snowmelt
Heavy winter snowfall followed by spring rains in Artvin, Turkey, has swollen the flow of the Bazgiret Waterfall in the Şavşat district. The increased water volume has turned the cascade, which drops in three stages from about 2,000 m altitude, into one of the region’s most popular spots for nature‑walkers and photographers.
Visitors trek a 40‑minute forest trail to reach the waterfall, passing natural ponds and dense greenery. Local mountaineering club member Asiye Saygılı of the Trabzon Mountaineering and Nature Sports Specialty Club said, “Today our 34‑person team is here for a camp and trekking event. We have been visiting Bazgiret for about 30 years, at least twice a year, and this year the water is flowing more vigorously than ever.” First‑time visitor Fatih Şeker added, “The scenery is truly magnificent; the effort to reach it is worth it.” The site is drawing both domestic and foreign tourists eager to experience the revived cascade.
